The Darling River - Routes

Barrier Highway outback sign for Cobar, Broken Hill and Bourke - Darling River Run routesThe Darling River maybe a destination for some, but to others The Darling River Run is a lot more than a travel objective; it is a journey through time, history, cultures, and spirituality of the Outback.

It is not something that needs visited at one spot then return home but a journey within it self or part of a larger exploration of this wonderful country. Visit NSW and incorporate the Darling River Run while travelling Australia. Australia has so many attractions for the visitor to experience and car travel is the best way to immerse the outback explorer in a true Outback experience.

It is no secret that most who visit Australia tend to hug our wonderful coastline, and there is no surprise why.  But, exploring the interior of this country will provide a true Outback experience and Outback NSW is easily accessible and can be provide a wonderful contrast to a coastal tour of Australia; incorporating both the coast and the Outback is the best way to get a real taste of Australia.

There is no doubt, Australia is a very large country and planning a driving tour to take in its top destinations of Australia can sometimes require covering large distances; we Australians can get a little blasé about it and sometimes 100's of kilometres can be referred to as 'just down the road', and those new to the vastness of Australia should do as we do and enjoy the journey as it is as much a part of travel as is the destination.

The smart traveller is the one who best coordinates how to tie all these together; and as the Darling River traverses the whole of NSW, The Darling River Run can be planned to cover south-east Queensland, NSW, Victoria and South Australia.

So to see the favourite Australian travel destinations like;

  • The Great Ocean Road,
  • Kakadu,
  • Uluru (Ayers Rock),
  • The Gold Coast,
  • Queensland Rain Forests,
  • The Red Centre,
  • The Barossa Valley,
  • Sydney
  • Melbourne,
  • Perth,
  • etc etc...

The Darling River Run should be considered as the journey is better than the destination and it is easily incorporated in your larger travel plans and allow a truly Australian experience.
